Guided tours of Lake Solano Park are offered throughout the summer and fall from 10am to noon on the second Saturdays and fourth Sundays of each month.
Lake Solano volunteers Gary Hansen and Cathi Christo will lead this tour. They’ll share insights about the history and culture of the Patwin Native Americans who lived in the area, including the importance of native plants to their way of life. Participants will reflect on how the water and forest were important to early Native American ways of life, and how our modern towns and cities depend on these same resources.
These tours are an opportunity to have fun, learn, and exercise. Participants should carry water and snacks with them. They should be prepared for variable trail conditions and weather by bringing layered clothes, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and protection from sun, and the chance of wind, fog, or rain. A camera and binoculars are also recommended. After the tour guests can continue to enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife at Lake Solano Park by picnicking for the day, or renting a campsite for the weekend on a first-come, first-served basis.
