Rocky Fire Update: Containment Goes To 40% Thursday

Containment this morning has advanced to 40 percent on the Rocky Fire, raging in the Northern California counties of Lake, Colusa and Yolo, according to Cal Fire.

Acreage consumed has also crept up from 68,300 acres Wednesday morning to 69,600 today, the agency reported.
Rocky Fire has destroyed, to date, 43 homes and 53 outbuildings,the agency said.

“Relative humidity recovery is contributing to diminished fire line activity. Pockets of isolated intense heat still remain near the containment lines. With the return of critical weather parameters, increasing fire activity may be observed during the peak burning periods when temperatures are the highest and relative humidity is at its lowest,” Cal Fire said.
