Solano College Governing Board Appoints 2015 Board Officers
Trustee A. Marie Young was elected President.

Solano Community College (SCC) District Governing Board Officers for the 2014-2015 year were elected at the Board of Trustees meeting on Wednesday, December 17th.
Trustee A. Marie Young was elected President, Trustee Michael Martin was elected Vice President, and Dr. Jowel Laguerre was elected to serve as Secretary. Trustee Sarah Chapman will serve as the representative to the Solano County School Board Association.
The new appointments began following the vote and subsequent approval.

A. Marie Young, SCC Board President commented, “It is my pleasure to serve as the 2015 Governing Board President. I appreciate my colleagues trust and support for this appointment. Working collaboratively is the Board’s priority to serve the students, faculty and staff of the Solano Community College District.”

In addition, the following dates have been approved as the 2015 Governing Board meeting schedule:
· 1/21, 1/24*, 2/4, 2/18, 3/4, 3/18, 4/1, 4/15, 5/6, 5/20, 6/3, 6/6*, 6/17, 7/15, 8/5, 8/19, 9/2, 9/16, 10/7, 10/21, 11/4, 11/18, 12/2, 12/16. Asterisk (*) denotes Board Retreat meeting.
All Board meetings will be held in the Board Room at the Fairfield Campus, 4000 Suisun Valley Road, Building 600 unless otherwise noted. All meetings, with the exception of Closed Sessions, are open to the public.
About Solano Community College:
The College has served as the preeminent educational institution in Solano County since 1945 when it was founded as Vallejo Junior College. In the early 1970s, the College moved to its present Fairfield site, and is presently serving over 8,000 students throughout the academic year.
In addition to the main campus in Fairfield, the College has one Center in Vacaville, and one in Vallejo. To further serve the community, SCC offers courses at Travis Air Force Base, and operates a School of Aeronautics at the Nut Tree Airport.
Currently, Solano Community College offers Associate Degrees and Certificates in various disciplines, to include transfer courses to California State Universities (CSU) and Universities of California (UC), and provides training in several trades.
