Man Suspected Of Hanging Noose In Berkeley Park Arrested
Hanging a noose in public is a hate crime in California; the suspect is set to be arraigned Tuesday.
BERKELEY, CA — A Berkeley city employee watched a man fasten a noose to a tree branch about 7 feet off the ground at the Berkeley Marina Thursday, police said. The man was later arrested on suspicion of a hate crime.
After the city staffer provided authorities with a photo, police located the man on University Avenue and arrested him on suspicion of hanging the noose in a public park. Hanging a noose in public is considered to be a hate crime in California.
The suspect, Jaime Robledo-Eespino was also in possession of drug paraphernalia when police detained him.

He is set to be arraigned Tuesday, according to Alameda County jail records.
