BERKELEY, CA — Police in Berkeley need the public's assistance with the investigation of an early morning robbery of a man who was stabbed after being confronted by four men as he walked home.
The robbery and assault occurred at about 4:40 a.m. Monday in the 1400 block of Berkeley Way, near Sacramento Street. The victim told police he was walking home when he was confronted by the suspects, who demanded his property. The victim fought back and was able to retain his items, but during the fight, he was stabbed. He did not suffer serious injury, but was treated at a local hospital for his injuries.
The suspects were driving a dark-colored Toyota Camry sedan, possibly green or black.
The first suspect is described as a Black male, wearing a gray beanie-style cap, a face mask and a blue and red football-style jersey, similar to a New York Giants football jersey. He was armed with a kitchen-style knife.

The second suspect is described as an Asian male, about 6'2" tall, wearing a gray track suit and a face mask.
The third and fourth suspects were also male. There is no further description at this time.
The Berkeley Police Department is seeking information and assistance from the public to solve this crime. Anyone who may have seen the incident occur or who may have seen the suspects before or after the robbery and assault are asked to ask the department's robbery detail office at 510-981-5724.

Area residents with home security cameras may have captured relevant information with their equipment and are also being asked to contact police.
