Burglary Suspect Arrested In Berkeley

BERKELEY, CA — Berkeley Police report that they arrested a home burglary suspect who took a laptop and other items. The burglary was on Saturday in the 1600 block of Russell Street.

The burglary happened when the residents weren't home — sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The stolen laptop had tracking software active, allowing officers to track the laptop to a residence in the 1000 block of Virginia Street.

Police located the suspect, a 48-year-old Berkeley resident whose name is not being released. He is on parole and is accused of having methamphetamine hidden in his wallet.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and violation of parole.
