About the event
Calling all cookbook enthusiasts, food lovers, and wine-curious home (or professional) chefs. Whether you love to cook, sip, or simply page through a beautifully crafted cookbook, the Cookbook Lovers Club is for you. In collaboration with the fabulous food stylist and cookbook author Bebe Carminito, our club gathers to celebrate the art of cookbooks — featuring a different author and their delicious creations. We meet, eat, sip, and savor good conversation with fellow foodies.
This November, we’re raising a glass to Ukrainian chef, food stylist, and writer Anna Voloshyna, in celebration of her stunning new cookbook, Ukraïne: Recipes and Stories from Kyiv to the Black Sea. Anna traveled the length of her homeland — from the Carpathian peaks to the shimmering Black Sea, from Kyiv’s food carts to root cellars stocked with jars of preserved and fermented deliciousness — collecting recipes, stories, and friendships to answer one question: what is Ukrainian cuisine? The answer is her gorgeous book of 100 recipes, both the hearty and familiar and the bright and modern, and reads like a travelogue, a love letter, and an act of preservation all at once.
This evening is built the way the book is. We’ll begin with a short conversation with Anna about the story behind Ukraïne, and then we’ll do what the book asks us to do: nosh on the recipes, family style, the way Ukrainian hospitality has always worked.
