Crime Busters: Register Your Home Security Cameras With BPD
Police officers go door-to-door looking for security video after a crime, a time-consuming process that slows down the capture of suspects.

BERKELEY, CA — Have you installed security cameras at your home or business? Help Berkeley Police solve future crimes by registering your cameras now with the city.
Following crimes, police officers and detectives often go door-to-door to see if the suspect was caught on a security camera. The process is time consuming. The Security Camera Registry tells police that you're willing to voluntarily share footage if they're investigating a crime.
Registering does not provide the Berkeley Police Department with direct access to your camera. Registration is completely voluntary and free of charge. Your personal information is kept confidential by the police department and will only be accessed by law enforcement personnel who are conducting an investigation. Registration may be withdrawn at any time.
