Direct Application: Patternmaking with Iron

Learn to create graphic images through the process of direct application.

March 5 | 10 am - 4 pm

This workshop will explore the process of direct application using Iron/Ferrous Sulfate to create graphic images utilizing shades from black to grey. Students will learn how to make and thicken an iron solution creating an assortment of shades. Various stamps and brushes will be available to create imagery directly onto cellulose fibers. Included in the workshop are 2 pieces of unfinished fabric as well as a finished scarf.

Feel free to bring along a maximum of 2 additional natural fiber pieces (dyed or undyed) that you would like to embellish.
