The Ditty Bops

The superlatively charming and extremely talented Ditty Bops, also known as Amanda Barrett and Abby DeWald, bring their 1920s and '30s-flavored swing and ragtime music to our stage for a "pagan-vaudeville" extravaganza that no Freightgoer should miss. In performance, Amanda and Abby apply their sweet-as-honey harmonies, mandolin, guitar, ukulele, and eco-friendly humor to a heady blend of ragtime, Western swing, and folk, with some wild costume changes thrown in to spice things up. "More and more zany ideas come to us all the time," Amanda explains.

They sang with Bob Dylan on his 2009 album Christmas in the Heart, have appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brian and A Prairie Home Companion, featured their music on Gray's Anatomy, and recently wrote and illustrated their first books, Ruffy Loves to Exercise, Panc and Choc Cook, and Jelly Loves Jam.

Tonight the pair regales us with songs old and new, including choice selections from their Grammy-nominated CD Summer Rains and their brand-new release, Love Letters.
