Food Allergies and Avoiding Your Triggers

I wrote in a blog post last year about how particular symptoms do not necessarily correlate to allergies to particular substances.   For example, Hay Fever symptoms are commonly caused by airborne pollens yet different people experience these symptoms differently, e.g. runny nose; itchy eyes, itchy ears, etc. are often peculiar to the individual.

When it comes to food allergies we see a wide range of symptoms that can occur.  These include the obvious digestive upset (which itself has many forms from IBS to constipation, diarrhea, to stomach cramps, etc) to skin rashes to respiratory inflammation, body pain, irritability, anxiety and more.   Then there is something called IGG reactions which trigger symptoms up to 3 days after exposure to an allergen.   If you suffer symptoms which are linked to an IGG trigger, it is near impossible to link something that happened or a food you ate 3 days ago!

I find that trusting our innate ability to choose wisely is one way to assist our bodies in avoiding symptoms.   The steps to more accurately choose are these:  1) Affirm in your mind that you want to feel good and symptom free in your body  2)  Think of the food you are considering or, if it is in front of you look at it and ask yourself, “Is eating this food going to allow me to feel good in every way?”   3)  Affirm that a strong muscle is yes and weak is no then make a ring with your left thumb and forefinger, insert your right forefinger into the ring and, without thinking, hold the ring with the left hand while attempting to run through it with the right.   This does take a bit of practice to get comfortable and accurate with your results but if you take your time, follow the steps carefully and do this consistently you will find your results will lead you to avoid the foods that will trigger you.
