Chromebooks will also be available for BUSD students to check out at your student’s school library during the school year.
Chromebooks Available for Students
Students who don’t have a dedicated device of their own at home may check out a Chromebook at no cost from their school library and keep it at home for the entire school year. These Chromebooks offer a touchscreen and can be used in a tablet mode for a convenient e-reading experience. It’s easy to check out a free BUSD Chromebook for your child:

Meal Applications – Free Breakfast and Lunch in 2023-2024
Both breakfast and lunch will be available free to all TK-12 BUSD students with or without a meal application. However, this application is much MORE than a meal application! By filling out a meal application you will help BUSD bring much-needed funding to our schools. If your student qualifies as “free” or “reduced,” you can use the district’s eligibility letter to obtain other benefits like free broadband service, p-ebt cards, discounts on exams, and more.

COVID-19
The BUSD COVID-19 TK-12 Safety Plan for 2023-2024 is now available. This plan may be updated when our Public Health partners release updated guidance.
If your BUSD student tests positive for COVID-19, beginning today and throughout the 2023-2024 school year, please report the case using the English or Spanish case reporting form. Students who test positive for COVID-19 after August 10, 2023 and through the morning of August 16 should not return to BUSD on Wednesday, August 16. BUSD’s COVID Response Team will provide instructions about returning to school.
If you are unable to report a COVID-19 case using this form, you can also report the case by emailing covidcase@berkeley.net.
