Berkeley 7-Eleven Stores Opt Out Of Free Slurpees
Berkeley 7-11 stores have signs posted saying that they are not participating in the popular promotion.

BERKELEY, CA — It's July 11, also known as 7/11, and that means it is free Slurpee day at 7-Eleven stores nationwide. Unfortunately, the three Berkeley locations have opted out of the popular promotion.
During 7-Eleven Day, the chain estimates it will give away 9 million free small Slurpee drinks. After seeing a story about the promotion on Patch, one reader wrote that she took her children to two Berkeley stores and found "a sign on both stores saying that ALL BERKELEY STORES ARE NOT PARTICIPATING IN THE FREE SLURPEE DAY... I did this as a treat for them after getting shots at the doctor. They were very upset, as was I, as I ended up having to pay for them."
Patch manager Autumn Johnson phoned all three stores to ask why they were not participating, but there was no answer at any of the stores. Johnson is also seeking answers from corporate 7-11. If we hear back, we will update this story with their response.
