Gun Seized, 2 Oakland Men Arrested In Berkeley

BERKELEY, CA — Two men were arrested and a gun seized during a traffic stop in Berkeley on Monday. The men have been identified as Javon Lee and Edward Riley, both 22, and both of Oakland.

According to Berkeley Police, at 12:24 a.m., an officer in the 900 block of Ashby Avenue noticed a vehicle code violation.

The officer approached the car that was stopped at a gas station. The passenger, later identified as Lee, got out of the vehicle and began using his cell phone. The driver, Riley, turned to pay for gas.

The officer saw an unrolled marijuana cigarette sitting on the center armrest. During a search of the vehicle, the officer found the on the passenger seat underneath a bag where Lee had been sitting.

The men are facing firearm related charges.
