Hay Fever Season

While some of my patients suffer with symptoms year-round, others have an annual or semi-annual bout with symptoms which recur at approximately the same time every year.   This syndrome is commonly called hay fever and is characterized by itchy eyes, runny nose and stuffy sinuses.

In more severe cases symptoms can include eczema (skin rash), asthma, as well as digestive upset.  While it seems obvious that these seasonal symptoms are related to seasonal flowering of plants, they are just as often caused by an overload of stress caused by several offending allergens.

For example, I find many people who live with animals believe that their allergy triggers have nothing to do with their pets.   They cite evidence that they only have symptoms part of the year or when eating certain foods, etc.  However, during testing we may find that the animals contribute to their stress load and symptoms.   Animal allergies often have components that are specific to the animal and their care, for example, cat/dog hair, saliva, dander, urine, feces as well as cat litter in its various forms.
