Help Local Teens Become Better Writers and Thinkers!

Join the WriterCoach Connection team in Berkeley public schools

Here’s an opportunity to help Berkeley teens in our public schools. Do you want to listen to what our local public school students have to say and help them articulate it in writing? Train to be a writing coach at King Middle School, Longfellow Middle School, Willard Middle School or Berkeley High. It is a very satisfying volunteer opportunity that involves 2-3 times a month of 1-2 hour sessions in which you have one-on-one conferences with students on their writing assignments. You don’t have to be a writer or a teacher. You just have to care about listening to kids and bringing out their ideas and voices. The training gives you strategies for working with all kinds of writers, from the most struggling to the most advanced. Many volunteers are needed early in 2016, and the next free training is Fridays Dec. 4 and 11 from 9:30-12:30. Visit our website, watch a short video or register for a school and a training. Because kids write our future!
