The resident found the homeless man in his master bedroom making himself at home.

BERKELEY, CA — A homeless man who police said made himself at home after breaking into a residence in the Berkeley hills has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and violating his probation, police said.
At about 6 p.m. last Friday an older man returned to his home in the Glendale-La Loma neighborhood to find an empty bag of Doritos chips in his kitchen along with a used drinking glass, according to police.
Knowing that he hadn't left those items in the kitchen before he left, the man checked the rest of his houseand found suspect Nao Hamada Myers, 41, inside his master bedroom, police said.

The resident promptly got out of his house and called police. When officers arrived, they allegedly found Myers, who's being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin without bail, still inside the master bedroom.
Berkeley police said in a statement, "Surprisingly, the man (Myers) had now dressed himself in a Docker's dress shirt, Land's End dress pants and a waist belt from the resident's wardrobe."
Police said Myers likely gained access to the residence by using a key the resident had hidden outside his house.

Berkeley police said they urge people not to leave open or unsecure doors and windows unattended and to consider sharing a key with a trusted friend or neighbor instead of hiding a key outside their house.
