A new Berkeley-friendly website brings residents into a community of exchange
Rooster is here to stay and it's a winner!

There’s a new Rooster in town--a roaming emissary for FREELY offered items. And these are not serendipitously laid in front of driveways, or tucked into free-standing bookshelves on Berkeley’s tree-lined streets. (Those of us who take daily fitness walks, have no doubt amassed a nice wardrobe of sweaters, scarves and shoes, along with an occasional kitchen appliance.) But these “gifts” have been anonymously donated.
At long last a new website provides an OPEN exchange with “neighbors” who can post a profile along with specific needs and offerings, and it creates a nice feeling of “community.”
I caught the spirit immediately with my first request that wasn’t commodity driven but still enjoyed top wish list status:

“I’m a North Berkeley resident --a stone’s throw from the Monterey Market. Would be nice to start a salon of artists, musicians, writers, et al, to share work, philosophy, etc.”
My follow-up message included a desire to meet up with interested individuals at Cafe Roma for more specific idea planning and implementation.

Happily, responses have been warm and enthusiastic. (so keep them coming!)
For the most part, those who post at Rooster are looking for items like blenders, mattresses, tables, chairs, desks, etc. while others provide the perfect match. It’s a nice give and take.
ROOSTER founder, Tali Saar, seems to have the energy and commitment to make this cyber hub an instant favorite, so check it out, register, and join in!
