Overturned Big Rig Causes Enormous Traffic Jam

BERKELEY, CA — The timing and location couldn't be worse.

A big rig overturned on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 just west of Ashby Avenue in Berkeley, according to
the CHP. The first report came in at 7 a.m. A sig-alert was issued a few minutes later.

The effect on surrounding roadways has been a cascading disaster.

The CHP reports long delays on westbound Highway 24, westbound I-580 and northbound I-880. That's in addition to the blocked lanes on I-80.

There's no estimate of when the highway will be cleared.
