BERKELEY, CA — A coalition of immigrant rights and labor organizations, joined by Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin and City Council members, plan to rally Monday evening at Berkeley City Hall to urge the Senate to pass a bill like the Dream and Promise Act, passed by the House, to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals "Dreamers" and provide them a path to permanent residency.

The Dream and Promise Act also Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) recipients.

More than 1.1 million people stand to lose their work authorization and legal status in the United States unless Congress takes steps to defend recipients of DACA, TPS and DED, from having their protected status canceled by the Trump administration which would put recipients at risk for deportation.
