The 2,300-square-foot restaurant features seating for 50, a full bar, and sunny outdoor patio. Its owners, Tim Carlon and Sarah Nasgovitz, have run a successful catering firm of the same name in Berkeley since 1997.
The menu is both diverse and familiar, with American classics given a modern twist. Signature entrées include pork carnitas with mac-n-cheese chile rellenos, fried chicken with greens and beans, Korean-fried chicken wings, and a rotating selection of pastas. The menu also offers happy hour selections and options for kids.
The food is complemented by wines from California, France, Italy, and Mexico. A wine-by-the glass program changes with the season. The bar pours both signature cocktails and more than 85 beers and spirits. Desserts are a special feature at Stella Nonna, with old-fashioned cakes and other favorites made in-house.
Stella Nonna is currently open for dinner every day except Tuesdays, and will add lunch and weekend brunch service in the near future. Reservations are accepted by calling the restaurant.
