UC Berkeley Student Attacked By Man With Cane

BERKELEY, CA -- Police in Berkeley are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon incident that occurred Thursday. University of California Police Department officers responded Thursday to the University's Tang Center regarding a student who was receiving treatment after he was attacked from behind by a man with a cane.

The attack occurred in the area of Ellsworth Street and Durant Avenue.

The victim suffered an injury to the back of his head.

Police searched the area but did not locate the suspect.
The suspect is described as a black man, 40 to 50 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 pounds, with short black hair, brown eyes and wearing a red waterproof jacket and carrying a black cane.

The attack occurred in the jurisdiction of the Berkeley Police Department.
