Vehicle Hit By Gunfire In I-80 Freeway Shooting

BERKELEY, CA — A vehicle was hit by gunfire on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Berkeley on Friday night, the California Highway Patrol said.

The incident is believed to have taken place about 8 p.m., between Ashby Avenue and University Avenue, the CHP said Saturday on social media.

The person whose car was involved reported hearing a single pop, but thought it was a tire-related issue and continued driving home, police said.

Officers found damage to the victim's vehicle that confirmed a shooting had occurred, police said.

No one was injured.
