Voice Your Opinion On Berkeley Improvements

What drives you crazy about Berkeley? Crumbling infrastructure? Potholes? Park maintenance? Sound off this Saturday!

BERKELEY, CA — Is there something about Berkeley that makes you grind your teeth? Or, in the case of potholes, jars your teeth?

The City is holding three workshops that will allow you to voice your opinion on the prioritization of voter-approved bond dollars meant to upgrade aging infrastructure such as streets, sidewalks, storm drains, parks, and community centers.

The workshops will be held three consecutive Saturdays, starting this weekend:

  • Measure T1 Workshop #1 Focus: parks and general City facilities Saturday, March 18, 2017, 10am - 12pm Frances Albrier Community Center 2800 Park St.
  • Measure T1 Workshop #2 Focus: streets and storm water infrastructure Saturday, March 25, 2017, 12 - 2pm Live Oak Community Center 1301 Shattuck Ave.
  • Measure T1 Workshop #3 Focus: gathering additional input on City staff recommendations and summarizing input gathered to date Saturday, April 8, 10am - 12pm Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch Library 1910 Russell St.

Current projects include seismic and other improvements to the James Kenney Community Center, reconstructing the Berkeley Rose Garden Trellis and improving paths there, renovating the tennis and basketball courts at Grove Park, paving streets, repairing or building sidewalks, and installing green infrastructure projects that help reduce flooding and protect our creeks.

Despite this, the City has over $500 million in unfunded infrastructure needs. The November bond measure will help address some of the unfunded need.
