Ken R. of Martinez writes: “Really a 4.5 star but I rounded up. Great design and beautiful bar. Gorgeous black granite bar. The place is really hitting its stride after being open for few months.Service is very good...very much approved over the past several months. Great team at the bar! Good selection of beer and wine selection. Excellent burgers, the chili is very good. Try a cold beer and bowl of chili at the bar...you won’t be sorry. What more could want in a local sports restaurant. Every seat has a good view of new Hi-def TV. Very clean restrooms! Hmmm....maybe it is 5 full stars after all.”

McGah’s Pub & Pianos, 148 E Prospect Ave., Danville | 4 stars

Casey S. of Alameda says: “I went to McGah’s a while back when it was That Bar, and this new iteration is more or less the same thing. Menu’s got the same pub fare, there are still dueling pianos, and it still feels completely out of place in Danville (in a good way!). Be sure to try out their buffalo soldier burger!”

EJ Phair Brewing Company and Alehouse, 2151 Salvio St., Concord |3.5 stars

Maurice D. of Brentwood writes: “If you like beer Ya gotta make this place a pit stop. Basically normal bar room food with a good beer selection. I gotta say I like the High & Mighty IIPA was off the hook. Looking forward to the next E.J. Hair visit!!”

The Starry Plough, 3101 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley |4 stars

Natasha M. of Richmond writes: “I‘ve been coming here for a couple of years now, and with good reason! Consistent genuine service, awesome live music, and the owners of this establishment sincerely care about the atmosphere and overall customer satisfaction. If you’re in the area, the Starry Plough is a must!”

The Stadium Pub, 1420 Lincoln Ave., Walnut Creek | 3 stars

Ben M. of Concord: “This is a great place to have some food and drinks while watching whatever game is on. They have plenty of seating and tons of TVs so whatever you want to see is probably on somewhere. And the hot fries are awesome. The bartender, Shala, was great. I never had to remind her what kind of beer I was having and I never had an empty glass. Best sports bar in the area for sure.”

McNally’s Irish Pub, 5352 College Ave., Oakland |4 stars

Greg F. of Oakland writes: “McNally’s is a great little Irish pub, it has all the hallmarks down to the picture of JFK. Not a huge space, but they do have a most comfortable back-room that is perfect for drinking games and is a great seperation area for a large group.”

Gallagher’s Dublin Pub, 7821 Amador Valley Blvd., Dublin | 3.5 stars

John L. of Los Angeles writes: “Pretty sure everyone who calls themself a Dublin resident has ventured to Gallaghers at least once. If you’re looking for the best spot to celebrate St. Patrick’s day.. you’ve found it. Everyone is pretty chill here and the drink prices aren’t terrible. They can make just about any drink and make it right. They have pool tables here also (smaller sized) to occupy time. Definitely worth a shot.”

Farrington’s, 1938 Contra Costa Blvd., Pleasant Hill | 3.5 stars

DMoney Z. of San Francisco writes: “I wasn’t aware that Pleasant Hill had bars, until a friend of mine invited me out here a Friday night. This place is kind of hidden in a small shopping center, but it has more to offer than what meets the eye. This bar has friendly bar tenders, pool tables and even good music. The crowd I would say ranges from 21-50 year olds. They have good beer choices and I have no complain about the staff and/or the atmosphere. I would recommend this place, which is also close to restaurants.”

Magoo’s Grill, 1250 Contra Costa Blvd., Pleasant Hill |3.5 stars

Bee S. of Walnut Creek says: “Absolutely LOVE this place. The staff is always a wonderful delight and they have great food and atmosphere for watching “the” game, whatever sport it may be. They never make me feel weird when I order a plate of bacon ’for the table.’”

Whiskey Lane, 629 Ferry St., Martinez |4.5 stars

Colette C. of Oakland says: “Cool dive bar. The bartender, Erin, is fabulous! Good drinks, music and friendly crowd.”

Redcoats, 336 St Mary St., Pleasanton |3.5 stars

Tara M. of Walnut Creek writes: “Great place for a group. Mary very attentive. Servers made great commendations. Food delicious. Definitely will be back.”

Ryan’s Pub, 15009 Farnsworth, San Leandro |4 stars

Darrell K of San Leandro says: “New Dj Thursday nights music is fresh and clean plus videos cant beat it. Bartender Luann is fine and friendly. Mike the mixologist is on target too. Great ladies night specials awesome . Come have fun I know I will lol .”
