Acclaimed Israeli Chef Eyal Shani Brings Malka To Beverly Hills (patch.com) — Beverly Hills diners will soon get a taste of Chef Eyal Shani's acclaimed Malka, opening Sept. 1 at SIXTY Beverly Hills with a kosher, Mediterranean-inspired menu designed for all guests. The new spot will showcase seasonal California produce, Beverly Hills–exclusive cocktails, and several dishes created specifically for the Los Angeles location, expanding Shani's growing Southern California restaurant presence.
   

2. Beverly Hills substitute teacher's lawsuit against school claims she was fired over anti-Trump posts (abc7.com) — A longtime substitute for Beverly Hills Unified says she was dropped from the district after posting criticism of Donald Trump and pro-Trump student behavior on her personal Facebook page. She's now suing BHUSD, arguing the firing violated free-speech and labor protections and conflicted with district policy on employees' political activity outside work.
   

3. Beverly Hills Opens Cooling Centers During Heat Wave (canyon-news.com) — Beverly Hills has opened free cooling centers at the Public Library, Roxbury Park Community Center, and La Cienega Park Community Center to help residents cope with the current heat wave. The city is urging people to stay hydrated, limit outdoor exertion, watch for signs of heat illness, and call 911 immediately if heat stroke symptoms appear.
   

4. Beverly Hills seeks nominations for Embrace Civility Award - Beverly Press & Park Labrea News (beverlypress.com) — Beverly Hills residents have just a few days left to nominate neighbors, local workers or business affiliates for the city's Embrace Civility Award, due by Aug. 31. The Health and Human Relations Commission wants to honor people who model kindness, respect and community support, especially in schools and neighborhood life, and hopes the recognition will inspire more everyday acts of civility.
   

5. Dec. 1 trial set in BHUSD vice presidency lawsuit - Beverly Press & Park Labrea News (beverlypress.com) — A December 1 trial date has been set in a lawsuit challenging how the Beverly Hills Unified School District board selected its vice president, potentially affecting how future leadership rotations are handled. A Los Angeles judge narrowed discovery to alleged Brown Act violations, ordered detailed document searches and limited depositions as both sides prepare written arguments this fall.
