Beverly Hills Police Warn of Phone Scammers Pretending to Be Property Inspectors

One victim received a call from someone claiming to be from the "City of Beverly Hills Commission Group."

Beverly Hills police today warned residents about a scammer pretending to represent the city on the guise of setting up a property inspection.

According to police, a resident recently received a call from a man identifying himself as being from the “City of Beverly Hills Commission Group” and asking if he could inspect the resident’s property for earthquake damage.

“Believing this was suspicious, being that there have been no recent earthquakes, the resident asked ... for his phone number in order to verify that he was calling from the city,” according to a police statement.
