Beverly Hills Votes On Measure BH: Results

The $385 million construction bond will be used to significantly upgrade and improve Beverly Hills schools.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Beverly Hills voters took to the polls Tuesday to vote on the future of local schools in Measure BH. With all of the city's 21 precincts reporting as of Wednesday, the measure has 59.47 percent voting "yes" and 40.53 percent voting "no." The measure requires 55 percent of the electorate to vote for it in order for it to pass, according to Beverly Hills Courier.

The $385 million construction bond will be used to improve aging Beverly Hills schools, upgrade and replace inefficient heating, cooling, and electrical systems, classrooms, libraries and science labs, deteriorating restrooms and leaky roofs, and provide modern classroom technology and science equipment, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar.

If the resolution passes, property owners will see a tax increase of an average of 4.4 cents on $100 of assessed value up to 25 years, which will significantly diminish in the final decade, the newspaper reported. Most of the Measure BH bond is supposed to go towards making major renovations at Beverly Hills High School, but $13.59 million is set aside for classroom technology and $46 million is set aside to complete El Rodeo School's construction program.
