BHHS Runners Shine at Arcadia Invitational

The boys 4 x 400 and distance relay teams place at the yearly event.

The 44th annual Arcadia Invitational was held last weekend in Arcadia and Beverly Hills High athletes gave strong performances at one of the top prep track and field meets of the season.

The BHHS 4 x 400-meter relay team finished fifth in 3:23.7 seconds—one spot ahead of Ocean League rival Culver City. The only teams with faster times were Vista Murrieta (3:21.99), Dorsey (3:23.06), Great Oak (3:23.11) and Frontier (3:23.50). The Norman foursome consisted of senior Mario Conti, juniors Cameron Countryman and Joel Steinberg, and sophomore Alexander Rohani. 

Also placing in the Top 10 was the BHHS distance relay team with juniors Countryman and Josh Galen, and sophomores Rohani and Chanan Batra. The foursome clocked 10:35.83 to finish sixth behind Arcadia, Lancaster Knight, Brea Olinda, Riverside La Sierra and Huntington Beach Marina.

Countryman also ran in the 200-meter dash seeded race, placing second in his heat and 20th overall in 22.54 seconds.
