BHUSD Schools Celebrate Halloween

The Beverly Hills Unified School District's four K-8 schools got into the Halloween spirit Monday with costume parades, class parties and Halloween-related art activities.

Following in the tradition of years past, students at and  schools held a morning Halloween parade in which students in each grade had a chance to march in front of the rest of the school and show off their costumes. Many teachers and administrative staff members also dressed up.

The Parent-Teacher Associations offered bagels or donuts and coffee to the parents waiting to see their children, adding to the sense of community.

At and schools, there were individual class parties and costume contests.

Horace Mann, whose mascot is the husky, held a Halloween Haunt carnival after school on Friday, with a bouncy castle, fortune teller, face painter and caricature artist. A live magic show and an indoor evening movie provided additional entertainment. Parent and grandparent volunteers assisted with the day's activities, giving families the chance to enjoy the holiday fun together.

"The Halloween Haunt has now become another tradition at Horace Mann where the parents, teachers and students can interact and enjoy themselves outside of the classroom setting," the school's PTA president Howard Goldstein said. "It is another example of the sincere pride and sense of community the Husky Nation demonstrates through their overwhelming participation."
