Entertaining Kids Over the Holiday Break
We've compiled some suggestions to keep bored children occupied.
Your children have been out of school for two whole days and they are already climbing the walls. What is there to do with them until the end of the year? Here are some ideas.
On Wednesday, send your child to chess camp at the Beverly Hills Chess Club at 8950 W. Olympic Blvd., Suite 210. Camp goes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m; a half-day session of three hours costs $45 while a full day costs $75. For more information, call 310-274-7873.
Next week the Beverly Hills Parks and Recreation Department offers SmART Space Art Camp from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 27 to Dec. 30 at the . The course is available for children ages 5-10, and the cost is $200 for city residents and $250 for nonresidents. To register, call Parks and Recreation at 310-285-6850 between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. or register online. One important note to remember—the department will close Dec. 24 and reopen Jan. 3 due to a citywide furlough, so all registrations for SmART Space camp must be received by the close of business on Dec. 23.

Until recently, it looked as though the Beverly Hills Public Library would be closed all of next week as well. However, a last minute donation is keeping the library's doors open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 27 through Dec. 30.
is open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, but closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. All this week the center will be screening holiday movies and television programs, including the cartoon classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Admission is free, although donations are suggested.
