FREE Beverly Hills Forum Features World-Class Photographer and Her "Fourth-Grade Project"

The City of Beverly Hills presents renowned photographer Judy Gelles, whom Critical Mass called one of the top 50 photographers in the US. Gelles will give a presentation about her recent “Fourth Grade Project” in which she asked diverse fourth graders simple questions and their answers wove a compelling tapestry of young lives around the globe. Part of Beverly Hills’ Forum Series, the free lecture will take place in the council chambers at Beverly Hills City Hall (455 North Rexford Drive, Beverly Hills, CA). Included in the project are students from an inner-city school, a Jewish day school, a private Quaker school, a Hispanic public school, a school for migrant children in China and an English-speaking school in India. The children’s stories capture many current critical issues. Gelles received her MFA in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design and her Masters in Counseling from the University of Miami. Her work is in major collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Philidelphia Museum of Art. Free parking is available in the Civic Center parking structure.
