Light To Moderate Rain Expected This Weekend In SoCal

Inland, rain will be light to moderate Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Friday's mild weather will be replaced this weekend with anticipated scattered showers across the Southland. Inland, rain will be light to moderate Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning, with total rainfall expected to range from one-quarter to three- quarters of an inch, National Weather Service meteorologist John Dumas said.

More rain is expected to fall in the foothills and mountains, with 2 to 3 inches in the foothills and 1 to 2 inches in the mountains, Dumas said.

The meteorologist said there may be gusty southeast to south winds at times.

Overall, the weekend system, caused by an atmospheric river, will be weak, forecasters said.

Los Angeles County high temperatures were forecast Friday to be 64 on Mount Wilson; 66 in Avalon and at LAX; 70 in Long Beach and Downtown L.A.; 73 in Saugus, Burbank, Palmdale and Lancaster; 74 in Pasadena and San Gabriel; and 75 in Woodland Hills. Saturday's temperatures will be three to four degrees cooler.

Partly cloudy skies are forecast in Orange County Friday, with highs of 62 in San Clemente; 63 in Newport Beach; 64 in Laguna Beach; 69 in Mission Viejo; 71 in Anaheim; and 72 in Irvine, Fullerton and Yorba Linda. Temperatures in inland Orange County will be up to five degrees lower Saturday but about the same as Friday along the coast.

High pressure will build Monday and Tuesday, producing mild, dry weather and temperatures at or slightly above average, forecasters said. Wednesday through Saturday, more rain is expected, along with mountain snow and colder temperatures.
