Police Screen Hundreds During St. Patrick’s Day DUI Checkpoint In Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills police conducted a DUI checkpoint on Santa Monica Boulevard on St. Patrick's Day.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Police on Wednesday announced the results of a DUI checkpoint held on St. Patrick's Day.

The checkpoint was held on Tuesday from 6 to 11 p.m. at North Santa Monica Boulevard and Crescent Drive.

In total, 1580 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 316 were screened, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department.

Officers conducted one field sobriety test, "but the driver was not arrested for driving under the influence," police said.

Three motorists were cited for driving without a licensed.

DUI checkpoint locations target areas with a record of impaired driving-related crashes and arrests. Police will also be checking to ensure drivers are properly licensed, according to the BHPD.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license, according to the BHPD.

More DUI checkpoints are planned across Los Angeles this week.
