Peaceful Protests Disperse After Beverly Hills Curfew
A peaceful protest progressed down Santa Monica Boulevard Tuesday, dispersing as Beverly Hills' afternoon curfew took effect.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Beverly Hills Police reported a group of protesters is marching east on South Santa Monica Boulevard east of Canon Drive Tuesday morning. The march remained peaceful, and demonstrators quickly dispersed as police began enforcing the citywide curfew.
Shortly after 1 p.m., the streets in Beverly Hills were largely empty. Armored vehicles were used to block the street at Beverly Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard.
The protest began a little over an hour before the start of the city’s fourth consecutive curfew. Los Angeles County announced Tuesday morning that another countywide curfew will be in effect from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Sergeant Brian Balleweg of the Beverly Hills Police Department said that roughly 100 protesters started at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard, near the Starbucks. He said that the crowd traveled into the Business District at Rodeo Drive, marched down Rexford Drive in front of the Civic Center and the BHPD Station before wrapping around to where they started.
According to Balleweg, the crowd was peaceful, and cleared out once the Beverly Hills curfew went into effect at 1 p.m. The National Guard was briefly deployed on Wilshire Boulevard, but left after the curfew to attend to a much larger protest taking place in downtown Hollywood.
