Rihanna Settles Lawsuit with Previous Owner of her Beverly Hills Home

The singer claimed the house was riddled with defects.

Rihanna reached a settlement with a man who sold the singer her former Beverly Hills home and others she sued, alleging the residence was riddled with defects when she bought it five years ago for $6.9 million.

Rihanna, 26, maintained the home had numerous problems with water intrusion, and that extensive leaks occurred during rains in 2009-10.

An attorney for the “Umbrella” singer filed a notice of settlement July 23 with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos. No terms were divulged.

Rihanna bought the home in July 2009. Among the defendants named in the action were Prudential California Realty, which employed the singer’s real estate agent; the home’s former owner, Adrian Rudomin; and LaRocca Inspection Associates Inc.

Rihanna hired LaRocca in August 2009 to do an analysis of the property for any needed repairs by the owners. She alleged they did not make sure water seepage problems in the hardwood floors were fixed before escrow closed.

The singer filed the complaint in August 2011 under her real name, Robyn Fenty. She alleged negligence, fraud and breach of contract.

A day after Rihanna’s lawyer filed the notice of settlement, Gregory Pyfrom, an attorney for LaRocca, filed court papers stating that some of the cross-complaints in the case remained unresolved.
