Taylor Swift Builds Wall Around Historic Beverly Hills Home
Its landmark status gives her a huge tax break, but it also means she has to take extra steps to make changes to the property.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – Singer Taylor Swift is building walls around her Beverly Hills mansion – a home that was designated a historic landmark in April by the city of Beverly Hills. Its landmark status gives her a huge tax break, according to TMZ, but it also means she has to take extra steps to make alterations to the property.
Swift obtained permits to block visibility to the mansion, including putting up a 6.5 ft tall cinder block wall by her front porch and a 7 ft high retaining wall by her tennis court; she also upgraded and remodeled her front gate.
Phil Saveni, president of the Beverly Hills Historical Society, told TMZ that the changes Swift wants to make are fine because the walls won't "impact the integrity" of the home.

The house was built by movie mogul Samuel Goldwyn, who designed the home with his wife in 1934, according to Architectural Digest. Swift purchased the six-bedroom, five-bathroom home in 2015 for $25 million; it spans 1.9 acres and includes a card room, theater room, and library, among other amenities. It’s hosted screen legends like Clark Gable, Marlene Dietrich, and Charlie Chaplin over the years, according to CurbedLA.
