Wife of Former British PM to Be Honored in Beverly Hills
The ceremony will take place Thursday at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Sarah Brown, the wife of former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, will receive the "Woman of the 21st Century Award" Thursday at the annual Spring Luncheon of the Women's Guild of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the .
Brown, whose biography on the social networking site Twitter describes herself as "mum, charity campaigner, writer, enthusiastic chirper, believer in good things," is being honored for her dedication to women's health and well-being.
Willow Bay, a former CNN anchor now an editor-at-large with the website The Huffington Post, will moderate a discussion with Brown at the $200-per-person luncheon, whose proceeds will benefit the Women's Guild Lung Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The British consul general, Dame Barbara Hay, and actress Morgan Fairchild are also scheduled to attend.
Brown is a member of the Leadership Group for Maternal and Newborn Health, which seeks international support for the effort to reduce the number of maternal and infant deaths in developing nations.

A former public relations executive, Brown is also a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is a member of the Advisory Group to its international board, which is exploring ways to use its network of doctors to improve health care for mothers in the developing world, and vice president of its official charity, which funds research into women's health.
Brown is also a patron of Hala, the Rachel Nash Jerusalem Comprehensive Breast Clinic, which serves both Arab and Jewish women.
"Sarah Brown is an unparalleled champion of women's health," Women's Guild President Lorette Gross said. "Her trailblazing work in this arena raises the bar, and inspires us to work harder to make long lasting improvements in the industry."
Brown's husband was prime minister from 2007 to 2010, when his ruling Labour Party lost its majority in the House of Commons. He remains a member of Parliament, representing a constituency in Scotland.
