'Wonder Woman' Debuts With $103M Take At Box Office

LOS ANGELES, CA — "Wonder Woman" made some Hollywood history over the weekend, debuting in first place with $103.3 million, according to final figures released Monday.

According to box-office tracker comScore, "Wonder Woman's" closest competitor was a lower-key, animated superhero, with "Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie" debuting with $23.9 million.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" slipped to third place with $22.1 million. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" also continued to find an audience, earning $9.8 million to push its five-week total to nearly $355.6 million.
The bawdy comedy "Baywatch" earned $8.7 million to take fifth place.

Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were "Alien: Covenant" ($4.1 million); "Everything, Everything" ($3.3 million); "Snatched" ($1.3 million); "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul" ($1.3 million); and "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" ($1.2 million).
