• 2 Fremont women dead after being swept to sea in Santa Cruz (mercurynews.com) — Recent deadly rescues near Panther and Yellow Bank beaches have prompted fresh warnings for anyone visiting the coast between Panther Beach and Bonny Doon Beach. Two young Fremont women died after being swept into the ocean, and officials say at least five rescues have occurred in this one-mile stretch in the past month, urging visitors to watch tides, sneaker waves, and the dangerous keyhole passage.
