• Ex-deputy sentenced on conspiracy charges (2urbangirls.com) — A former Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy from Fullerton has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison for helping a self-styled cryptocurrency businessman threaten an adversary and for filing a false tax return. The case also involved several other ex-deputies, including Scott Allen Simpkins of Brea, who earlier received an 18‑month sentence for obstructing a federal investigation into related extortion at a Bel Air mansion.
