Here's a "HOT" tip brewing among Brentwood locals: apparently those in-the-know have been indulging in what seems like a marriage made-in-heaven: it's called the "Affogato" and is made conveniently easy by the close proximity of Caffe Luxxe and Sweet Rose Creamery as next door neighbors in the Brentwood Country Mart. "We always know it's officially summer when we see the number of customers requesting a shot of espresso over their Sweet Rose Creamery ice cream more than double. We're delighted to be their neighbor and to share in the creation of the Affogato, " comments Gary Chau, co-founder and creative director of Caffe Luxxe.
The Affogato is a shot of Caffe Luxxe’s signature Testa Rossa Italian espresso roast. Poured over a cup of vanilla ice cream, it is often seen accompanied by cookies for dipping and customers seem to favor the coffee house’s Peruvian “alfajore” cookies of which over 1,500 were sold last week. A single scoop (4 oz.) of ice cream is $3.75, a single shot of espresso is $3.00, and a single alfajore cookie is $2.50.
