Trespassing Suspect In Custody After Prompting SWAT Standoff In Brentwood

BRENTWOOD , CA — An apparent trespasser armed with a knife was taken into custody Monday following an hourslong SWAT team standoff in Brentwood.

Officers were called about 5 a.m. Monday to the 700 block of Westgate Avenue, near San Vicente Boulevard, on a report of a man armed with a knife trespassing in the area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man refused to surrender, prompting a SWAT team response and standoff that continued until about 1:20 p.m., when he was taken into custody, police said.
