America's Dirty Secret

Learn about a serious problem in the U.S. All who attend are eligible for a $99 raffle prize!

You're invited to a free program on Tuesday, July 18, that explores a dirty secret: The United States is the world leader in producing electronic waste, and the volume is increasing. In California, even in Silicon Valley, there are minimal incentives for recycling electronic waste (e-waste) responsibly, so it’s often shipped to developing countries, where it contaminates water, soil and air. Many developed countries are way ahead of the U.S. in combating this problem.

Come to "The Growing Problem of Electronic Waste" on Tuesday, July 18, to hear two speakers offer ideas for solving the e-waste problem. Presented by the Citizens Environmental Council of Burlingame, this free program will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Lane Room at the Burlingame Public Library, 480 Primrose Road. Everyone attending will be eligible for a free raffle of a brand new Fitbit valued at $99!
