Casting 3 actors for 3 plays to be performed at Notre Dame De Namur University’s
17th annual, Labor Day Theatre Festival
"N.Y. Minute" written by Michele Palermo, Director: Karen Byrnes
Characters:
Harry’s ghost: 32 a successful Wall Street broker with a carefully conceived plan for success, when he committed
suicide. He is handsome, with a sense of humor and loves to tease Melissa, his dearest friend.
Melissa: 32 and single, is Harry's best friend since college. She is a successful, hard working attorney, Harry
being, practically her only social contact. She is warm, sensitive and intelligent, and "angrier than hell" at Harry.

These two, short plays will be performed as companion pieces by the same two actors.
Looking to cast one male actor, 40 – 60, Asian to play the role of Lone, an older laborer on the American
transcontinental railroad, late 1800’s, secretly practices Chinese dance/opera, plays opposite rebellious younger
male laborer, Ma, agitating for a worker’s strike. Set roughly in the same time & place; same 40 – 60, actor to
play older experienced cowhand/camp cook on his last roundup opposite a trigger-happy young cowboy out to
revenge an insult.
Auditions: June 13, 7:00 p.m.
Location: Notre Dame Theatre, 1500 Ralston Ave., Belmont, CA
(On Ralston Ave., next to Notre Dame High School)
Please prepare a one-minute contemporary monologue.
If unable to make audition date, please make an appointment.
Rehearsals will begin July 8 and run through Aug. Performance dates will be 2, 3, or 4 evenings of the six festival
performance dates, Aug. 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, 31.
All roles are non-equity, no pay. Some reimbursement for performers commuting form outside San Mateo
County. Commutes over 1 hour away, not recommended.
