Bay Area Woman Wins Award For New Children's Book
The picture book is about steam engines and California history, as told through the story of a Watsonville company and its quarry in Aromas.
Cupertino author Rose Anne Woolpert received a Runner-Up honor at the San Francisco Book Festival earlier this month for her new children's book, "Engine Number Ten: A Nearly True Tale."
The picture book tells a story of steam engines, construction and California history, and won in the category of Children’s Books. Woolpert also participated at the conference on a Children’s Books panel.
It is also based on the story of the Watsonville-based Granite Rock Company and its A.R. Wilson Quarry in Aromas. The illustrations are joined by vintage photographs from the company archives.
