Burlingame Flames Third in NorCal and Win Carmel

The Burlingame Flames take 3rd in Norcal and win the Carmel Tournament.

The Burlingame Flames girls 12b softball team took third place in Norcal play in Sunnyvale on June 26 and earned a spot in Western Nationals to be played later this summer in Fresno.

After a loss to the Belmont Blast knocked the the Flames out of contention for first place, the Flames won four straight games on the final day to take third place in NorCal. The Flames next went down to Carmel for the Fouth of July weekend softball tournament and won six straight games to win the Carmel event.

The last game was exciting and the Flames showed what they were made of after trailing by two runs going into the sixth inning and scoring one run to trail only 5-4. Going into the seventh inning, Katie Terrones had a lead off double; they then rallied to tie it and go ahead thanks to Emily Williams' hustle after a dropped third strike to first base, Clare Colson's base hit and then the clincher--Christina Monisteri's two-out triple. The final score was Flames 7, host team Carmel 5.
