When you see a sign that says “Coming Soon” what kind of time frame are you thinking? I think of a movie coming in say, two weeks or so. Or, I think of a new product I’ll see on a store shelf within the month. So when I first saw the “Coming Soon” sign outside the Safeway project on El Camino I was a bit confused. Safeway and I must have different definitions of the term “soon”. Safeway has been “coming soon” for many months now! Of course I’m just as excited as everyone else to see the old Safeway be replaced by a new and improved model, but the idea that it is coming soon seems overly optimistic, at least to me. It is apparent that construction is progressing, but “coming soon?” Hmm, not to my mind. I have to confess, I recently enjoyed watching the webcam showing the progress of the building, especially the timelapse photography.
