Parking Parking, Parking

Parking at Lot G--convenient now, but will it last or be part of a land swap with St. Catherine of Siena Church?

Location, location, location. The mantra of the real estate industry! Parking is great, so long as it is close to your destination and available. The reality is that in Burlingame parking is cheap and available, just not always when or where you need it.

Being an original big city guy, i had become accustomed to paying in excess of $30 to $40 to park and that was if I was lucky enough to find a lot after circling for an hour or so. The City Council will discuss a parking lot swap to help St Catherine's realize it vision for its community. This has raised concerns with businesses, residents, and others with regard to the impact on parking and traffic.

The reality is that a vital and prosperous downtown area is sure to have parking and circulation issues. That is a good problem. If you have too much available parking you have  stagnant downtown businesses. The question is what can the City do to address the concerns of all stakeholders to the betterment of Burlingame's continued vitality and economic health while still providing residents with the quality of life and access they have come to expect.
