The End Is Here

The Harry Potter series comes to an end, and our blogger Catherine was there to experience it.

Last Friday, I was lucky enough to see the midnight showing of the new Harry Potter movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. It was a great experience! My friends and I bought tickets to see it at the Century Theatres at Tanforan a couple of weeks in advance. My friends saved a spot in the front of the line at 2 p.m. for the midnight showing.

The line was chock full of Harrys, Rons and Hermiones, not to mention a chorus of fans singing songs from A Very Potter Musical (which is an internet hit). There were even death eaters handing out Hershey kisses.

The movie was great, and yes, it included the epilogue. The graphics were realistic and the plot wrapped up the series. The audience was very lively and added to the experience by booing for Voldemort and cheering for Harry throughout the movie. When it was over, many die hard fans were completely sobbing. I have to say I was pretty sad, too.

The Harry Potter movies have been a part of my childhood and I am sad to see them go. I remember when I was 10, desperately hoping for a letter from Hogwarts inviting me to study there. But no, I have resigned that I am but a mere muggle with no magical powers. It’s amazing how the books and movie make the wizarding world of Harry Potter seem like a tangible place. And to some, it almost is!

There is a Harry Potter theme park in Florida complete with Diagon Alley, Hogwarts and The Leaky Cauldron.  So Harry Potter fans, don’t cry because it is over, be happy and smile. You entered a whole new world, met some unforgettable characters, saw amazing things happen and, in the end, the experience was magical.
